[Words to Image. Take a random picture, listen to your imagination, and write a quick short story describing what you see in it. This is what I do. Enjoy]
For thousands of years, the Succubus held power over man. She disguised herself as beautiful, loving, something to be sought after, and cherished. She had ensnared many good men, pulling them into her web of deceit. She fed them lies. She fed them promises. She fed them hopes for their futures. She muddied their perception of reality and hid the real truth from them, a truth that crushed them, one by one. She would then move on to another.
And then one day, she wove her web around the King of Wordesh. Little by little she convinced him that he held no royalty. He had forgotten that he was born with status and authority. He lost sight of the majestic kingdom that held statues in his honor and iron placards above every third door bearing his royal crest. He no longer remembered that he sat on a golden throne and ruled his people. She had painted for him a new life, one that wasn't his. And he believed it. The King's new subservience hid the Succubus' true colors, from himself and others, but she was still a rainbow of evil.
For years he was under her spell, willing and ready to give her the best life he could. He labored hard and saved enough silver penny to purchase the highly coveted Ring of Comanitacy. It was a glorious neck piece that all elite woman longed for. Bearing sapphire and emerald, if you possessed one you were the envy of all who did not. She wore it in vanity.
But then the King began to notice tiny inconsistencies around him. When he walked past certain peoples and artifacts he began to feel a mental tug of sorts. Strangers bowed their heads as they passed by. An insignia overhead seemed very familiar to him. He stopped and stared at it. Two second flashbacks challenged his mind. He made comments but they were quickly dismissed and suppressed. She made sure of it. Until they weren't.
Over time, the thoughts and inconsistencies haunted his very being until he remembered who he was. He remembered the immaculate dining halls and the men on steed. Images of wine-colored drapes hanging from the ceilings danced about in his thoughts. He looked down at his fingers and wondered where the ring which bore his kingly stamp was. He could see where it used to sit from the lighter shaded circle that wrapped around it. He remembered who he was. The curse had lifted.
The King took back his name. He revisited his kingdom and sat atop his golden throne. And when he did, he witnessed the love and respect his people held for him, for he was a just and great king.
He summoned for his guards to apprehend the evil Succubus and force her to kneel before him and the entire kingdom. He stripped her of all of her garments so every onlooker could see who she really was. Her true colors amazed the masses. She was hideous and evil to look upon. The word was given and the King's magicians, sorcerers, and wise men disempowered the Succubus. She was weak and helpless.
"You and all mankind will forever see you as you truly are. You will wear your skin the way it is."
He nodded to his head sorcerer who then promptly raised both hands and transformed her Ring of Comanitacy into the putrid mirror of her own evilness. He tossed it to her.
"Keep it. It fits you. You are hereby banished from this kingdom. Walk the earth in your hideousness. And never return."
The Succubus destroyed many men in her thousands of years. But today, she was powerless. And she knew it.
