[Words to Image. A random image put to words based on how I see it]
My dilemma...
I look at this image, and my first thoughts are of sadness and pain. Should I write about this? But then I imagine the act of pouring one's heart out to another. This can represent healing, trust, and present a positive situation. Should I write about this? It also appears that what is within is pouring out but is it possible that what has been spilt is returning to where it came from? Life giving reimbursed? Paying it back? There are always multiple ways to perceive something. Two people could have opposing views, but both be right in how they describe it. So, how should I write about this? Well, let's see what happens ...
Morsie placed both hands across her chest in an attempt to forbid her heart from caring. If she could only stop the love, even for just one day, it might be easier on her. She spent a lifetime tending to and worrying about everyone around her to the point of always forgetting about herself and putting her own needs second. Because her desire to help, heal, and elevate others was so very strong, she often overlooked the dreams and desires she once thought of, but rarely paused to acknowledge this.
Today was an exception. Today, she felt exhausted. She reached for her chest and pleaded with the heavens to allow her one day of peace, just one day to be selfish.
"Tomorrow will be another day. Situations and problems will still be here. Why not let my heart feel cold and stagnant today? Let me not care. Stay all of my worries until sunrise. Let me be at peace with just me, nothing more, and no one else. Allow me to rest."
The universe granted her the opportunity, but she had to choose it. It would not be forced. She was informed that her hands could cease the love for today. They could block all of the caring and worries. All she had to do was cover her heart and when her fingertips touched, she would be free. Just hearing this opportunity spoken calmed her soul.
"Finally, I can enjoy a moment of selfish peace."
But only for a moment, she promised herself.
She raised both hands and inched them towards her heart. The thought of it enticed her but also brought about great dread.
"What if I enjoy it too much?" she thought. "What if I cannot return to who I am?"
The repercussions bothered her. Her fingers inched closer. She convinced herself that if she felt something, anything, before they touched, a spark, a warmth, she would go through with it. Inch by inch, she felt nothing. Closer and closer, she felt nothing. The universe had promised a freed heart, once her fingers touched, but she wasn't there yet. And she still felt no precursor to the promise. Morsie held her hands completely still, fingertips a mere inch away. She questioned. And worried. And was filled with sadness.
"Where had the anticipated elation gone? Why don't I just do it?' she asked.
She looked around and saw the many people she loved. Their smiles. She heard their laughter.
She witnessed a stranger who simply needed someone to listen to them to help boost their confidence. She gazed at them all ... and then she smiled.
"I am, who I am. And cannot be anything else. "
Morsie moved both of her hands and allowed her heart to continue to pour out to others. As she always had. And she found a renewed peace within this decision. Morsie loved because she was love.
