[Words to Image. In lieu of the approaching holiday and my short hiatus from W2I, I felt the need to combine the two in a random image to random story drop)
The Mox Fed thrives on the written word. When creation was in play, one would never see them. As long as a story was being written, on a daily basis, they would stay hidden. But allow 3-4 days to pass by and the story becomes settled, nothing written/nothing happening, the Mox Fed will appear. And they come with a vengeance. They pull themselves from the pages of what you've written, in a hellish anger. The pages will part, and your guardian of script climbs out in search of their favorite author, you. And this moment is never pleasant. There will never be a warning or specific time of day for their arrival. Their only constant will be when you failed to be.
Stop writing and you face their wrath, until you begin again.
They climb atop of you while you sleep and discharge a foul odor while tugging on your ears, until they wake you. Once you are, they will torment you until you leap from bed and return to work, contemplating their storyline, putting pen to paper, fingertips to keys, whatever it takes for creative forward movement. When they were satisfied with your re-start, they will retreat to the pages and soak up the process. The author will be safe for the next 3-4 days, should they decide to lay their creative pen down. If they opted to remain in a state of consistency, the Mox Fed stayed away, dormant in their processing bliss.
I've written this today due to, well, I believe you must already know. The torment can be long and overwhelming, and I felt the urge to stay the bones. When one's passion lies dormant for too long, bits and pieces of it begins to die. And in these moments, one will lose a piece of themselves.
The Mox Fed will destroy it.
Authors, protect yourself. Create.
