As I sit alone, I feel the stares of many weighing me down. I shrug them off for they misunderstand me. They see me with head bowed, but I am not saddened. They see me in dark attire, but I do not mourn. They see me in a somber manner, but my heart is full of gratitude. No, they do not see me, the real me. They see what they imagine to be reality. But this is their implied notion of what must be, but not what is.

See me for who I am. I am not your object of pity. I am not a force to be fearful of. I am not some lost soul to be prayed for. I am a vessel that has been reborn. A light that reflects through the heavy darkness. I am a smile on the crying lips of someone who has found themself. I am hope and wonder and determination, wrapped in a dark garment. My head is bowed because I give thanks for my growth. I give thanks for a new direction that accepts me. I give thanks for goodness that cradles me within it's bosom. I once reached the end of my life but was not extinguished. I lived on. I rebirthed into another form, another life, another mindset, another me. And I thrived afterwards.

Do not see me as you think. See me as I am. See me in all of my glory for that is the real image you look upon. I am more than a shell of black. I am the passing of fear and the presence of courage. I am the metamorphosis of love and I will share it with you ... if you will see me as I am.

So, when you look upon me, in all of my exterior, ask yourself, what lies beneath? If you give me a chance, you will see who I truly am.

You will see ... me
